Aryl hydrocarbon receptor(AhR)는 환경·식이·microbial small molecule에 반응하는 ligand-activated transcription factor다.
핵심 내용
AhR은 dioxin 같은 xenobiotic sensor로 유명하지만, gut microbiome 연구에서는 tryptophan-derived indole metabolites의 receptor로 자주 등장한다. Activation context에 따라 intestinal barrier, IL-22, Treg/Th17 balance, detoxification enzyme, tumor microenvironment, fibrosis signal을 조절할 수 있다.
해석 경계
AhR activation은 항상 좋거나 나쁘지 않다. Ligand, tissue, cell type, dose, disease stage에 따라 barrier repair, anti-inflammatory effect, immune suppression, carcinogenesis가 모두 가능하다.
